Ways to Develop a Successful Direct Mail Marketing Campaign

As an internet marketer you are probably used to doing almost all of your business online. But did you know there is a way to bring in tons of sales by using offline marketing methods? One of the best ways to market your business offline is through direct mail.

Just as you would expect, direct mail is mail which you dispatch directly to possible customers and purchasers. If it sounds like a lot of work that is because it often does involve a lot of effort. You will find in most circumstances that the results you achieve more than make up for the work. You can make a lot of sales by sending people mail about what you have to offer. Here are some hints to help you get started.

Whether you send out a postcard or a letter, take the time to write your return address by hand, as well as the recipient’s address. Studies have shown that people are far more likely to open mail that has a handwritten address on it. A personalized envelope demonstrates to the recipient that you really did care enough to write them something by hand, more importantly. That is a rarity these days! If you write out ten envelopes every day, you will reach your letter quantity total in only a week and a half; this is not so difficult as it first sounds, if you contemplate mailing one hundred letters. If your handwriting is hard to read, ask for the help of someone else.

Don’t send out tons of mail to people, either. If for no other reason, you do not want to do this because it is prohibitively expensive to send large volumes of mail through the postal service and you will burn through your budget quickly. People will be less inclined to read any mail that you send to them, if they get bombarded constantly by mail from you; this is an important second point. You want your customers to be excited when they receive your mail. You want them to want to open it. That is what you want from them. Sending too many pieces of mail too close together will just get your stuff dropped into the recycling bin.

As with all of the work that you do, you need to make sure that your mailings look professional and are free from noticeable errors. Don’t let something go out with a bunch of typos, spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in it. Even though this is an important piece of advice, it is more important when you send out direct mail. If you are dealing with people that have not been numbed to these errors by years of poorly constructed emails, they may be turned off by any errors in your promotional materials. Before mailing anything out, check, double check, and then check one more time. Direct mail does not have to be intimidating. With a little practice, it’ll become second nature. With practice, direct mailing campaigns will become easy to you. You might even find that you enjoy more success from a single direct mail marketing piece than you do from an entire online marketing campaign. Keep at it! You’ll see sales in no time!
